Thinking Schools – by Chana Kanzen

A new initiative for schools in the UK at the moment is to encourage critical thinking and active learning. These schools can gain the accolade “thinking schools” by developing these skills. By educators slightly changing their roles from dispersing information to facilitating learning through independent research, magnificent achievements can be made.

I visited a school in the UK today where students in the whole school were developing their own country! What a great idea- designing flags, laws, homes, etc.

I began to think of how I can change the way I teach and try to eliminate the frontal teaching approach.
