I read recently about Barry Joseph‘s games for learning and think it is valuable to be able to utilise existing technologies in the classroom.
There are many programmes such as “VoiceThread” and “Games for Change” that are suitable for the older learner and can be adapted to suit Jewish educational purposes. The wave of technology exposure has become more apparent with the current pupils in K12 being so natural with technology and integrating it seamlessly into their learning.
However I have not seen as much available for our younger pupils. They are growing up comfortable and surrounded with technology and are able to navigate around an iPad before they can even read! Surely we need to invest time providing our early learners with games and software that will stimulate their Jewish learning and identity.
Although Jewish Interactive has started to address this age group, we need much more.
Any comments on software or links that are available for our younger learners will be welcomed!
Let’s empower our learners and make Jewish learning fun!
