In this digital age only limited documentation and educational rubrics exist to assist in the assessment of technology.
Our second extremely successful “4 Kidz by Kidz” competition resulted in 165 entries from 4 different continents and was outstanding in the level of skills and creativity input. (You can see the list of winners and their creations here…)
The question was how do we judge these entries fairly and give the students a way to focus on improving their skills?
It was like any other subject in education – we need to design an assessment rubric to clearly articulate expectations and aims.
The rubric has been designed in 4 levels and each level builds on the last so the students should be able to progress as they grow and develop. There is also a point allocation attached to make grading easy and record systems accessible. We invite you to look at this assessment and comment – please even use it in your classroom and let us know if it is useful and works – or if it needs improvement.
We need to assess our assessment!
