My Menorah 4 Hanukkah – Jewish App For iOS, Android, Mac And PC From Jewish Interactive

APP Jewish Interactive has extended the definition of non-profit to include twenty-first century Jewish education. The South African organization is dedicated to creating apps that teach elementary school children about Judaism, training educators in twenty-first century technology and training students to use tech for Jewish learning.

Some of the organization’s apps are geared toward older children, with interesting tidbits of information packaged in a fun, interactive package, while others are geared toward younger children taking their first steps in education.

My Menorah, is a Chanukah app designed for children aged 3-5.

This 3D interactive game instills knowledge about the holiday and Hebrew vocabulary as it teaches core skills such as number and color recognition. The app refreshes each day, so the child sets up the menorah with the correct number of candles. Children will learn popular Chanukah songs as they spin the dreidel and earn Chanukah gelt and gifts as prizes. There is even a karaoke setting in the app so kids can memorize the words to the songs and playing them back in their own voices. They will also practice color recognition and number sequencing while enjoying high-quality animation.

The app includes a guide for parents which suggests activities for each day of Chanukah based on holiday themes such as family cohesion, bravery, empathy, gratitude and miracles.

Each day’s theme is brought to life with a video, an infographic and suggested activities. The video explains how the theme is related to the holiday of Chanukah and the attractive infographics provide essential information for parents. The activity module is accompanied by detailed instructions on how to easily recreate each of the games at home.
